Other Health Insurance (OHI)
Mission Statement:
Being committed to the overall accomplishment of the PAD/OHI mission. Facilitates the capture/collection of Other Health Insurance (OHI) data from beneficiaries with private health insurance seen at Bayne Jones Army Community Hospital.
Services Provided:
Works in Patient Administration in the office of Other Health Insurance (OHI) in conjunction with the Third Party Collection office, by digitally entering the Third Party Insurance form DD2569 into the OHI database that is used to collect for services at BJACH from any private insurance that a beneficiary may have. The DD2569 form is required to be in any dependent and retired beneficiaries outpatient medical record regardless if the individual has private insurance or not.

- The COBRA Act of 1986 established the Third Party Collections Program Mandated in Federal Regulations, 32 CFR 220-221, Military Treatment Facilities must bill health insurance carriers for the cost of medical care as would any other provider.
- It is DOD policy to collect from third party payers the cost of medical services to the fullest extent under Regulation Title 10, U.S.C. 1095 which broadened the initial definitions to include inpatient and outpatient care, pharmacy, radiology, physical therapy, and other medical services.
- It is expressly defined that collection from insurance companies is not to result inbeneficiaries’ paying out of pocket expenses for health care services.
- All money collected from billing your insurance goes back into the MTF to enhance services and equipment.
